Today we’re up with a post to share a classic yet attractive charm – The Red Lips

Honestly speaking of it, I started applying makeup after I turned 22 and invested in just the basics (I still wear only a BB cream as my base). The red lipstick happened to me for the first time and very recently. I bought the Colorbar’s Hearts & Tarts from the Velvet Matte Lipstick range. Ever since I started using, I have fallen in LOVE with their retro matte formula. So, I thought of writing a review on it, which would also help the first timers with the red.

Colorbar Velvet Matt Lipstick in Hearts and Tarts, is a bright red shade of lip colour offering a matte finish. This lip colour has a sober matte finish and provides a subtle shine. Enriched with vitamin E, this lipstick glides on effortlessly on the lips and can keep them hydrated for long hours. It has a creamy and thick pigmentation which gives off a rich colour in a single swipe. Though it comes with a matte look, it does not feel heavy or dry on the lips.

The shade has slight pink undertones and can ensure you a long stay, even after you have your meals. Coming in a silvery sleek body, this 4.2 g lip colour can be your every day companion, that you can carry around in your purse and brighten up your look any time in the day.

My experience

I belong to the middle tone complexion, hence the classic or cherry red would have not worked for me. The lipstick I needed should add light to my face and have a matte finish. The Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick in Hearts & Tarts perfectly did that for me. It is a shade that comes under the brick reds, perfectly suited my complexion and just the needed amount of drama to my everyday look.

Follow these simple steps to get your perfect Red lipstick look:

1. Choose the right shade of red according to your skin tone
Fair complexion: Cherry reds, classic reds, true red and corals
Medium or olive tones: Brick red, Red with pink undertones
Dark complexion: Reds with burgundy or brown undertone

Test lipstick colors on your lips rather than your hands for the most accurate color match

2. Preferably pick the red matte as it gives the classic look and also lasts longer. Also, any time the matte red can be given the modern look by just adding a little gloss

3. If you are messy with the application of lipstick, use a lip liner to carefully outline your lips and then fill in the lipstick with a brush. Else, apply the lipstick directly on your lips and clean the excess on the edges.

4. Keep the rest of the look subtle by just applying an eyeliner of your choice. The red lipstick is a statement color, as too much makeup looks gaudy & childish.

Slit Personality!!!

Most of us are well aware of single slit maxi skirt. But now, these skirts are taking the trend to the next level by making double slits. Also known as the 16 piece Capsule wardrobe, this trick helps you get your season's favourites into the wardrobe with sanity. We consider 4 seasons in a year and split it up as: Winter (December-February), Spring/Summer & Pre-monsoon (March-May), Monsoon (June-mid September, Autumn (Mid september-November). You can also split the year into 3 seasons (summer, winter, monsoon) and do a 32 piece capsule wardrobe.

Camera Ready with Poetry In Motion.

Our first post on the blog with the collaboration with Poetry In Motion is up. I was so exited to do a shoot with coolest photographers Harsh and Kalpita. Despite of my busy schedule and various on job training's I have this month, I knew I had to come to Mumbai just to do the most awaited shoot. I was eagerly waiting for the pictures that we had shot last evening and I am extremely happy to see the final pictures. All thanks to Poetry In Motion.

Nevertheless, I've got this look with Forever 21 today and this one may just be my favorite by far. I have always expressed my love for dresses and floral prints countless times in the past. Every time I see this combination I fall in love with it. Blush tones have been on my radar this season, so when I spotted this dress in my best friends closet, I immediately stole it from her *winked*

To compliment my dress, I used Diana Of London 2000 Kisses Wonderful Lipstick-31- Fuchsia Pink and Ginger Surprise blush from Lakme on my cheeks to set a soft and feminine tone to this look. I decided to channel the look by matching the shoes with the dress.
