Winter Earlies

Mumbai finally sees some dewy mornings, the cold winds and short days.
"It's the early winter time !", and I start to crave hot chocolate, snuggling in the warm and cozying in the couch.

Overall, it doesn't really get too cold in Mumbai and this is why you don't see traditional winter outfits with people. The winter essentials be scarves and sweaters here, and scarves are my personal favourites. These little pieces not only act as neutralizers but also as maximizers, whether during spring or winters.

Thinking of a DIY with my favourite sweater, I decided to give it a side slit carefully up the waistline. The scarf being on my mind, I thought of it as a neutralizer in my outfit. keeping up with the winter mood, and completed the look with a denim below.

Eternal Daze

I missed writing, I missed sharing and simply drowning in my head to write down as I usually do here. Past few months have been hectic in every way, managing work, family and friends was an new all experience, and to be done at the same time. It becomes a bit hard for me (not because I can’t but more because I don’t want to!) to avoid coming back here. So taking some distance towards all of the amazing things that are to happen here, my latest inspirations and moods drew me to posting this one.

Women have an eternal love for flowers, it's undeniable. Nothing new when I say it, we already know. We see seasons change, and this print travels; these blooms continue to flourish on clothing and accessories for fall. It takes on a darker mood, with black-as-night backgrounds in a riot of vintage-inspired greens, deep pinks, and creams.

Least not to mention, I bumped into my old good friend who helped me come back here. It's our recent collaboration, it's a cherishing experience. Thankyou Vishaka Ladha !

Shit I have (Nothing) To Wear!

Are you also one of those who shop all life but when it’s about to choose an outfit there is nothing to wear in your closet?

Its been a couple of years now that I have moved to Ahmedabad and my family still lives in Mumbai therefore, I frequently visit Mumbai. In my case word ‘moved’ basically includes only “me and my suitcase”, which is exactly 5% of my wardrobe left back home i.e MUMBAI.

I had planned to do a shoot for the blog and had also planned a day out with my girl friends. Speaking of very few clothes, surprisingly, I haven’t faced the problem ‘what-to-wear’, Since I knew Mix Matching my outfits has always been my forte hence I thought of transitioning my outfit of the day.

OUTFIT 01

Remember, Its all about creativity. More importantly, with this in mind you might find combinations you’d never thought of. Outfit transitioning has always helped me. Let us know what's your take on outfit transition? Have you tried it before?

Monochrome is in Trend This Season Like There’s No Tomorrow.

Monochrome looks are a chic and understated look that says so much within its simplicity. It’s also a huge trend this season. I thought of wearing all black today and to add a bit of metallic tone to the outfit I have styled the look with gold and pearl accessories.
I have always had a thing for jumpsuits however I was always hesitant to wear them because I’m petite and I thought they would overwhelm me. I naturally gravitate towards clothes that flatter my figure. Dresses, jeans and skirts have always been my favorites. However I always wanted to buy a jumpsuit that would flatter my body.
Since my last jumpsuit post, I have been eager to add more jumpsuits and rompers to my wardrobe. I love the shape of this jumpsuit and how amazingly it fits me. It is perfect for a night out and a dinner date. It is quite sophisticated and classy.
One thing I like the best about jumpsuits is they're infinitely versatile, and you can just throw one on and go. I wouldn't mind wearing it to my office with a classy blazer and Mary Jane shoes.

Outfit Details-
Jumpsuit- Candie's || Shoes- Catwalk || Accessories- Bandra || Handbag-Lino Perros.

Last but not least there are three things that you should always keep in mind while wearing a monochrome outfit-
-Play around with different textures.
-Do not try to coordinate your makeup look with the outfit.
-It’s okay to try different tones. Don’t stress out about getting your shades identical. If your outfit has similar tones, it will still work.

Are you a fan of this trend? Do you find it crazy that the fashion seasons have changed? Let us know what you think.

Colorbar Velvette Matte Lipstick Review

Today we’re up with a post to share a classic yet attractive charm – The Red Lips

Honestly speaking of it, I started applying makeup after I turned 22 and invested in just the basics (I still wear only a BB cream as my base). The red lipstick happened to me for the first time and very recently. I bought the Colorbar’s Hearts & Tarts from the Velvet Matte Lipstick range. Ever since I started using, I have fallen in LOVE with their retro matte formula. So, I thought of writing a review on it, which would also help the first timers with the red.

Colorbar Velvet Matt Lipstick in Hearts and Tarts, is a bright red shade of lip colour offering a matte finish. This lip colour has a sober matte finish and provides a subtle shine. Enriched with vitamin E, this lipstick glides on effortlessly on the lips and can keep them hydrated for long hours. It has a creamy and thick pigmentation which gives off a rich colour in a single swipe. Though it comes with a matte look, it does not feel heavy or dry on the lips.

The shade has slight pink undertones and can ensure you a long stay, even after you have your meals. Coming in a silvery sleek body, this 4.2 g lip colour can be your every day companion, that you can carry around in your purse and brighten up your look any time in the day.

Product: Colobar Velvette Matte lipstick in Hearts & Tarts
Price: INR 299
Weight: 4.2 g

My experience

I belong to the middle tone complexion, hence the classic or cherry red would have not worked for me. The lipstick I needed should add light to my face and have a matte finish. The Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick in Hearts & Tarts perfectly did that for me. It is a shade that comes under the brick reds, perfectly suited my complexion and just the needed amount of drama to my everyday look.

Pro’s
  • A lipstick that glides and gives the required Matte finish in a non-drying composition
  • Thick pigmentation gives great coverage in a single swipe!
  • Lasts up to 5 Hours
  • Doesn’t flake, crease or settle in the lines
  • This colour suits most skin tones, specially the middle tone complexion
  • You can make this a lot more wearable by adding a little amount of nude or peach for the dramatic nights rather than going for a full-coverage red finish
  • This luxurious lipstick does not smudge and is transfer-proof, which makes it a great option for daily use, and can be reasons enough for you to buy Colorbar ‘Hearts and Tarts’

Cons

Well, none!
Follow these simple steps to get your perfect Red lipstick look:

1. Choose the right shade of red according to your skin tone
Fair complexion: Cherry reds, classic reds, true red and corals
Medium or olive tones: Brick red, Red with pink undertones
Dark complexion: Reds with burgundy or brown undertone

Test lipstick colors on your lips rather than your hands for the most accurate color match

2. Preferably pick the red matte as it gives the classic look and also lasts longer. Also, any time the matte red can be given the modern look by just adding a little gloss

3. If you are messy with the application of lipstick, use a lip liner to carefully outline your lips and then fill in the lipstick with a brush. Else, apply the lipstick directly on your lips and clean the excess on the edges.

4. Keep the rest of the look subtle by just applying an eyeliner of your choice. The red lipstick is a statement color, as too much makeup looks gaudy & childish.

Hope this review helped you in selecting that right shade of red. Write to us through emails or in the comments below to share your ideas & suggestions.
Have a good day :)

Slit Personality!!!

Most of us are well aware of single slit maxi skirt. But now, these skirts are taking the trend to the next level by making double slits. The double slit maxi skirt is storming runways and red carpets. I just love this maxi skirt because it's sheer and it shows a bit of skin though the fabric but not a whole lot.

There are various ways to style a maxi skirt. You can Pair your favourite crop tops with your maxi skirts. This is the foolproof way to rock a maxi skirt without worrying about the skirt and the top swallowing you. But If your are not a big fan showing off your midsection or if you are conscious about it then wear a crop top that hits right where your belly button is.

I wanted to style my plain black maxi skirt in a slightly more interesting way. If you guys are wondering where did I get this top from, let me tell you it's a dress which I had purchased last summer from Sarojini Nagar. I have styled this look by keeping the accessories minimal.

Ethnicity

Your everyday dressing needs a fresh style change and what can be better than getting to the indian roots ! Ethnic wear can take you through a roll of various looks; from the bohemian long kurtis to the urban chic palazzos, from the desi dhotis to the biggest trend-setter anarkalis and from the playful flared skirts to the colorful mirrored jackets.

What sets your look apart is the choice of accessories wherein you can choose those dainty earrings and a small tote, or totally set yourself apart by choosing headgears, chunky neckpieces and a handful of bangles.

For me, ethnic wear adds to my elegance. Being pear shaped, I choose the basic kurti and legging combo as it gives me a sleek and tall silhouette. I always make it a point to wear heels and carry a sleek clutch. This way I compose an outfit that is close to the indian roots and yet make me look the urban stylish.

Makeup comprised of the neutral lipstick and just an eyeliner, because the outfit itself adds a lot of feminity to the look.

This look can be carried off well at work, for social gatherings or simply a haul in the market.

So what's your idea of ethnicity ?? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or through mails.
We have been showered with feedback and it keeps us motivated. So, keep the love coming :)

Capsule Wardrobe

As the summers are already here, what is on top of your mind are those lovely destinations you want to escape into. Be it the beaches, the resorts or the family adventures to those mystical places of the world, or simply haul with your friends. What you'd definitely want to do is look your best every time. This season, we will help you how to create wonderful looks by shopping smart and minimal !

To make your season experiences the best, one thing to keep in mind is that your wardrobe can be comprising of all the rage using the 16 piece trick, according to seasons.

So, what's the 16 piece trick ?

Also known as the 16 piece Capsule wardrobe, this trick helps you get your season's favourites into the wardrobe with sanity. Incorporating the 16 pieces in multiple outfits for various activities as you spend the season, and not shopping for anything else, is the key. Also drawing in the basics, classics and the essentials becomes a part of it.

The capsule should consist of Tops, Bottoms, Dresses, outerwear and shoes (the 16 pieces are excluding lingerie, purses and jewellery). Remember to keep those outfits out of your list that can be worn only one way. This is so, because after 1 or 2 wears you would not feel the excitement of wearing it, and they soon reach your wardrobe archives. So we believe more in the fashion-must haves that are wearable, functional and can be worn in a number of ways.

Here's an inspirational 16 piece capsule wardrobe we drew in for the spring summer:

The above capsule wardrobe consists of 6 tops, 3 dresses, 3 bottoms and 2 outer wear.

  1. Tops (From left to right) - Floral net blouse, tunic, sweat shirt, crop top, classic denim button down, summer basic stripes.
  2. Dresses (From left to right) - Bohemian print short dress, neutral maxi dress, Plaids shirt dress
  3. Bottoms (From left to right) - Flared pants, A-line skirt, boyfriend ripped denims
  4. Outerwear - Grey cape, summer jacket
  5. Shoes - Summer heels, golden flats
You can incorporate these pieces in your summer wardrobe and experiment with various looks. To help you with it, here are two outfit inspirations (edgy and minimal) with the same A-line skirt:

Tip: Go ahead with the shopping according to seasons which occur. We consider 4 seasons in a year and split it up as: Winter (December-February), Spring/Summer & Pre-monsoon (March-May), Monsoon (June-mid September, Autumn (Mid september-November). You can also split the year into 3 seasons (summer, winter, monsoon) and do a 32 piece capsule wardrobe.

Let us know how would you play the trick. Send us your feedback and suggestions through your comments and emails. Happy Shopping ! :)

Camera Ready with Poetry In Motion.

Our first post on the blog with the collaboration with Poetry In Motion is up. I was so exited to do a shoot with coolest photographers Harsh and Kalpita. Despite of my busy schedule and various on job training's I have this month, I knew I had to come to Mumbai just to do the most awaited shoot. I was eagerly waiting for the pictures that we had shot last evening and I am extremely happy to see the final pictures. All thanks to Poetry In Motion.

Nevertheless, I've got this look with Forever 21 today and this one may just be my favorite by far. I have always expressed my love for dresses and floral prints countless times in the past. Every time I see this combination I fall in love with it. Blush tones have been on my radar this season, so when I spotted this dress in my best friends closet, I immediately stole it from her *winked*

To compliment my dress, I used Diana Of London 2000 Kisses Wonderful Lipstick-31- Fuchsia Pink and Ginger Surprise blush from Lakme on my cheeks to set a soft and feminine tone to this look. I decided to channel the look by matching the shoes with the dress.

Tell us what you think of this look and where would you wear it?
Stay tuned our next post coming soon :)

Smells like Spring- Our favourite Summer/Spring Scents for women.

As a young girl, summer smelt like BBQ chicken and chlorine. Now, it smells like Gucci and Chanel. Shopping for summer clothes is a blast, but probing fragrance counters for your perfect match can literally bring on the migraine of the season. With several classic scents ranging from floral to Oriental notes, a woman can define her personality by the perfume she wears. A fragrance can evoke femininity, sensuality, exoticism – or all of the above.

One thing we think is an interesting way to take it is to think about what makes you really happy— what do you love to do in the summer? Do you love to be in your garden, do you love to be on the patio having cocktails, do you love going to the beach? And if you think about what makes you happy and what you’re tasting and smelling and experiencing in those places, it’s a good way to start when choosing a fragrance.

I have been collecting few fragrances lately from an amazing web site www.unboxed.in. At Unboxed, you will discover a nose-numbing array of fragrances at prices certain to charm your pocket as well.

Today, I purchased Truly Pink by Vera Wang and Hypnotic Poison Extrait by Christian Dior from www.unboxed.in. Hence thought of writing a post on my favourite fragrances for spring/summer. I am totally in love with both the fragrances. Out of which Truly Pink by Vera Wang is definitely a YEAHHHH!!! for Spring/Summer. (Thumbs Up)

Our personal favourite spring/summer fragrances right now:

Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Summer | Limited Edition 2014

Summer editions by Issey Miyake provide abundance of joy described with juicy fruit, optimistic herbal notes, aquatic notes and precious wood. Version for women L`Eau d`Issey Summer 2014 offers a drinkable and refreshing fruit cocktail composed of sparkling grapefruit, passion fruit, guava and litchi, with a hint of floral bouquet, aquatic notes and precious wood. Warm and soft vanilla is in charge of sensual touch. The fragrance is available as limited edition, 100ml Eau de Toilette.

Vera Wang Truly Pink.

Vera Wang Truly Pink Perfume by Vera Wang, The embodiment of feminity and charm, this is a floral for women where fragrant white freesia unites with fruity apricot and litchi for a luscious prelude . The heart is composed of peony, pink rose and lily of the valley, and the base notes are iris and creamy woodsy notes.

Acqua Di Gioia Essenza -Giorgio Armani.

Acqua Di Gioia Essenza Perfume by Giorgio Armani, Acqua di gioia essenza for women is a floral yet woody fragrance from giorgio armani that's a great accompaniment to warm and sunny days . Featuring top notes of lemon, pink pepper, and mint that bloom with a heart of aquatic accord and two types of jasmine, this fragrance is strong without being overpowering. The scent has staying power as well, so you can apply it in the morning and not have to worry about it fading away by midday.

Versace Bright Crystal.

Long sunny days and warm balmy evenings call for a fresh, vibrant floral scent that encapsulates the bright warmth of summer. Bright Crystal by Versace brings together the sensuality of amber, the feminine floral beauty of magnolia and the vibrancy of juicy pomegranate in a perfect scent for summer.

Le Parfum-Elie Saab

Bring the freshness of summer and richness of floral blooms anywhere you go by spraying on a few drops of Le Parfum Elie Saab before stepping out of the house. Created by renowned perfumer Francis Kurkdjian in 2011, this women's fragrance pulls you in with the fruity floral scent of African orange flower and enlivens your senses with the sweet essence of jasmine at the heart. This aromatic journey ends with spicy-earthy notes of patchouli, Virginia cedar, rose and white honey.

It’s time to immerse yourself in a beautiful medley of fresh floral extracts and zesty notes as we welcome the season of spring and blossoms this year. Be a perfumista as you put your nose to work, inhaling the choicest of luxury fragrances bottled in beautiful cases. Forget updating your wardrobe, scent your way into the season with a new fragrance.
