You will definitely nod your head when we say “you should match your shoes with your belt/bag”, and hum a yes when you go on reading that “Horizontal stripes make you look fat”.
Won’t you instantly recollect your friend who always mentions that “Bodycon isn’t for curvy girls like us” or call to your mind about a sequin dress that’s lying deep within your closet because “sequins are supposed to be saved for the fancy parties in night time”
But, dear reader, the fact is that your mind is just taught about few of the biggest “fashion misconceptions”. Also, these fashion rules are not only outdated, but also brings your shopping list under the reduction mode and stunt the growth of your wardrobe!

#1. You are not meant to wear certain clothes because you are tall and skinny.
This one tops our list of the fashion myths, and it just needs to be busted. When you say that some things just don’t look good on you, we’d say 99% of the times the fit of the garment is off ! Saying that a certain kind of clothing — like flared pants, crop tops, or bodycons — only looks good on someone who is tall and thin enough to carry it, is just a messed up verdict. We agree that every body type is different, but they are not so different that a pair of denims would not look like denims, be it on a plus size body or a size 4.

#2. One should invest in clothes that are classic, and not in every other trend that pops up
We would politely disagree to this one, for people who have always been in this notion, because we don’t want to completely blow you off. When we say classics, of course, LBD’s and Black Stilettos and trench coats will always remain – but don’t spend on them so much that a little wear out would make you drown in regret. We’d say be wise. Spend more on the pieces you like the most, feel comfortable in the most and will wear the most. There’s no point in buying a pair of classic black high heels, because you’d wear it only once year.
#3. Horizontal stripes are for those who want to look fuller; otherwise they’ll make you look fat
We’d spend a sweet little time in busting this myth, because it has occupied the minds of many, just creating heavy misconceptions. The long-held fashion-Do which says that curvy girls should opt for vertical stripes, which elongate the figure, and shun "widening" horizontal stripes has to be shattered. #4. You should match your shoes with your belt/bag
a visually captivating look can be created by wearing floral pumps on a black dress with a red bag, than wearing a brown shoe because you’re carrying a brown bag. Matching a purse and the shoes always can be boring. Dare to mix and match, try
colour-blocking, because it’s fun, but also do that because this way much of your wardrobe gets mileage ! Take baby steps with the mix n’ match, and see where you end up.
#5. Bodycon isn't for curvy girls
We have seen many girls wearing over sized shirts or tops in order to appear slimmer. It’s true these ill-fitted clothes look Rad and are really comfy, it hardly does much for your appearance. Sometimes these clothes make you look bigger than you actually are, because the overflow of fabrics on your body hides your flattering curves and you might end up looking bulky instead. We say, show off your shape with a figure hugging bodycon dress. If bodycon is out of your comfort zone, try layering. You can do that by wearing a blazer or a cute cardigan to cover those really problematic areas and smartly choose dresses that create a better illusion of a curvy body.
#6. Sequins are supposed to be saved for the fancy parties in the night time
Sequined garments are actually “statement pieces” you can showcase round the year. The key to styling a piece like is to play down the rest of your outfit. Try a sequined skirt/blouse with a solid colored shirt/pants and flats for a flattering daytime look. You can also try pairing a sequined clutch with your favorite outfit.
